The City of Vladimir is one of the oldest Russian communities. It is located in the heart of the historic Vladimir region (Vladimirskaya Oblast) 180 kilometers (115 miles) northeast of Moscow on the bank of the Klyazma River. The Golden Gates symbolizes the military history of Russia, built with copper in 1158-1164, it was also the north-east entrance to the capital of Russia during the time. The major attractions including Assumption Cathedral, St. Demetrius Cathedral and Golden Gates.
