Wednesday was the first day of Hong Kong’s security law that promises stiff penalties for protests. As FRANCE 24 correspondent Oliver Farry reports, that did not deter thousands from turning out to the Causeway Bay shopping district for the annual July 1 march, which was banned this year. A man brandishing a Hong Kong independence flag was among the first arrested under the law, secession outlawed under the decree.
