Governor Ned Lamont and members of his administration held a news conference at Naugatuck Valley Community College in Waterbury to announce key initiatives from his proposal for how Connecticut should invest the federal COVID-19 recovery aid the state is receiving from the American Rescue Plan Act.

Legislation that was recently adopted by the Connecticut General Assembly and signed into law by the governor (Special Act 21-1) requires Governor Lamont to give lawmakers a plan for investing the federal funds by April 26. The legislature’s Appropriations Committee then has until May 16 to create its own plan for the funding, and then the two plans will be subject to final negotiations between the legislature and the governor.
