Huanglong Chapter 1: Jinzhou Rising | Act 6: Grand Warstorm (Wuthering Waves)
As the promised raindrops fall upstream, you embark on a journey north to the battlefield in search for answers.
Hot Diggity Dog! This quest was awesome. I almost forgot this was just the game's debut at the time, but the quest already entails as if it is a final boss of some sort. They seriously dropped an eldritch horror boss on us.
General Jiyan is just daring. I don't wish to spoil, but he was pretty much awesome the first time we met him. His little snippet with the former general, Geshu Lin was peculiar, but then I remembered he was in the trailer. I'm guessing he will later play an important role in Jiyan's story because I don't think he's dead, they just said he was missing. While Retroact Rain caused the people in the battlefied to see the deceased soldiers, it doesn't really say that the person should be dead, as they are just hallucination. He also has a Tacet Mark and a unique model, so maybe there is hope for him.
I was jumping for joy when the other playable characters alongside the npcs joined us against Jinzhou's defense, and the battle of Norfall Barrens. The Midnight Rangers npcs actually doing something and being competent is cool, and shows that they are soldiers in the frontlines. It's immersive, and pulls you in the fact that there really is a serious threat that must eliminated. I have to give them props for making this whole quest feel like cinematic, and just how massive the whole thing is.
Even though it was a bit out of the blue when Jiyan immediately trusted Rover with the whole plan, as is the case for everyone. They pretty much make it apparent that the protagonist is someone who belongs to a higher power, which explains why every faction is trying to get their hands on Rover. Which I respect, at least they are sticking to their guns, and they make the protagonist look really cool with the animation and such. Oh, did I mention that Rover also talks regularly? Like thank you so much. I could actually hear his thoughts. Although, I'm just a bit saddened that Rover doesn't have a voice-lines about certain things like Traveler and Paimon did, which they have an abundance of.
So we actually have a rabbit echo inside our tacet mark all along? So that was the voice from the prologue all along lol. Well, at least he's more useful than Paimon. I'm just kidding, I stand for Paimon whatever happens. I'm just abig sucker for mascots really. Even Pom-Pom from Honkai Star Rail, and Eous and the Bangboos are my favorites. Hoyo is really good at making the their mascots endearing for me, even though they have a bit of an attitude, then again, I used to look after my nieces so I know what children are like.
I'm just a bit upset about the ending, like it ended a bit abruptly, and why is everyone gone? I was hoping for a bit of an aftermath dialogue, as we just pushed back a Threnodian after all.
