A large supply of children’s medication is scheduled to return onto retail and pharmaceutical shelves next week, Health Canada said Friday.
Health officials said one million bottles of infant and children’s medication is expected to be distributed to hospitals and on shelves after next week.
Hospitals and pharmacies have been dealing with a nationwide shortage of children’s Advil and Tylenol since spring.
There have also been surges in the amount of kids admitted to hospitals.
Production of children’s ibuprofen and acetaminophen is double what it was last year, but the demand remains outpacing supply Health Canada said.
Chief Medical Adviser Dr. Supriya Sharma said Health Canada approved three proposals to import foreign supply of pain medications which has started to arrive in the country.
