Today's little gem is the digital caliper set from Aldi, Lidl's offering an almost identical version this week at the same price.

Does everything you expect from a digital caliper but at a good price and the quality of the manufacturing is somewhat better than what one would expect from the dirt cheap Chinese versions.

The old calipers I will use for scribing materials as the stainless steel on them is pretty good and means I can keep the digital ones for best and keeping it from wearing down the finger ends which would in time give inaccuracy.

Has a thread conversion gauge on the reverse, comes with two batteries one fitted, LR44 is also known as AG13 if you can't find the LR44's, Renata do make a AG13 which is just about the best battery you can buy and not that much more expensive than the standard or cheap types.

All in all, stuff one of these in your toolbox and enjoy its wide and varied use, having OD, ID and depth measurement, with two points past the decimal point to measure instead of the usual single point a lot of the cheapo ones have.
