As most of you know, I prefer to apply my copper paint all over my stones (or at least way past where the plated edge will be) and then overlapping the paint with latex, back up to my bezel line. This method helps me to visualize my lines because of the contrast between the copper paint and the black (or other colored) latex. I also feel that the undercoat of paint acts as a sort of secondary barrier to protext the stone under the latex.
But I get a lot of questions about how that underpaint will be removed from the piece after plating. Here I'll show you just how easy it is to remove by soaking it in hot, soapy water, and scrubbing with a toothbrush.
