This is a 16-year-old video that has gone viral on the internet today. As you all know, Bashar al-Assad had to flee his government in Syria and is currently living with his family in Russia, as new leaders have taken power in Syria.
An interesting fact is that former Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi warned Bashar al-Assad in 2008, saying, "One day, I will be killed, and one by one, governments in other Islamic countries will also be overthrown. Everyone needs to work together; otherwise, each of us will be targeted and killed."
When Gaddafi made this statement, Bashar al-Assad started laughing, as you can clearly see in the video. He literally laughed at Gaddafi's warning.
However, in 2024, people are looking back at this video and calling it a defining moment in history. If Gaddafi's warning had been taken seriously in 2008, perhaps much of the destruction that has happened—or may happen—in several countries could have been prevented.
