Turning small projects, like bottle openers is a lot of fun. Before this video was made the bottle opener blank was made by gluing up strips of walnut and maple. During the turning process lines were also burned into the piece to create perpendicular lines set against the long lines from where the maple and walnut were glued together. The piece was also finished with 2 coats of Tung oil and buffed out with a little wax.
