Why was Avebury built where it is? With a stunning slideshow, Steve takes us on virtual tour of the Avebury area, exploring the relationship between the monuments and the natural features that influenced their siting. Steve’s many surprising discoveries include a network of previously unknown warm springs that are integral to Silbury and other monuments. The springs, and natural outcrops of huge sarsen stones, made this a ‘special place’ and may have attracted people to Avebury thousands of years before any construction began.
A professional musician and film composer for most of his life, Steve Marshall worked for a time in the famous BBC Radiophonic Workshop. He now researches and writes on archaeology. Steve’s work appears regularly in Fortean Times and other journals; his new book ‘Exploring Avebury: The Essential Guide’ was published by The History Press in the spring of 2016. [ Ссылка ]
