In this video, I am going to show you how to solo using arpeggios on your guitar.
Arpeggios are a great tool for soloing because they outline all the notes that are in each chord you solo over, allowing you to produce very melodic lines in your compositions and improvisations.
In this lesson, I will show you how to solo over the II V I progression using arpeggios.
The II V I progression is the most common chord progression in Jazz and contains one of each main chord type: Minor 7, Dominant 7, and Major 7.
First, I show you an arpeggio pattern for each chord of the progression.
I then run you through a number of very effective arpeggio exercises that will train you to be able to visualise the inner workings of each arpeggio shape on the fretboard so you can switch between them with ease.
Finally, I show you how to put all this together to create very melodic sounding solos on guitar.
