This video throws light on the petition filed in Honourable Supreme Court in relation to Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate 2021. No relaxation was given by Madras High Court and the matter reached to the Supreme Court. Supreme Court responded on the clauses of FMGL -2021 that were challenged. The course duration of medical studies abroad should be minimum 54 month and no changes in this clause are made. Students must complete 1 year of internship in the same institution of study abroad and 1 year of internship in India after qualifying NEXT1. The medical education should be completely in English language. Students must also be eligible to register themselves in the country of study and must have the rights to practice in that country same as local students. Their degree should be at par with the local students of that country.
In case any of these clauses are not fulfilled, the student will not be allowed to write NEXT in India upon return and will not be granted permanent registration in India. Supreme Court highlighted that the country is in need of Doctors but the country also needs quality doctors.
