Michael F. Driscoll, M.D., medical oncologist answers the question, if I learn I have colon cancer, what should I ask my physician?
We really need to find out where the cancer is so that means stage, so typically you would need to have the cancer staged up.
This is assuming after you've already had a colonoscopy and a biopsy. You would need to get scans to determine the extent to the cancer and then based on the stage then would be the next option for surgery and then followed by chemotherapy if need be.
