The legendary Russian “sniper surplus” 7N1 which is just about non existent now. Since I have several unopened spam cans of “regular” 7.62X54R I can’t bring myself to shoot this stuff. It’s earning collectors item status now so I suppose it will just be treated as such here at the Milsurp Garage.
As you can see from the pages supplied by 7.62x54r.net, it might look identical to regular Russian surplus but in reality it is a whole different thing using special powder, projectile, and packaging. Sounds like the round even had its own unique ballistics and impact characteristics. Go Russian Snipers!
