Jam Tarts were one of my favorite snacks to munch on during Christmas. The perfect jam tarts consists of a savoury tart shell filled with your favorite jam. Follow the recipe in the video to make the most delicious jam tarts you will ever taste.
Recipe:
Ingredients
- Flour - 230 gms
- Sugar - 2 tsp
- Butter - 120 gms
- Strawberry Jam - As required
- Vanilla essence - 1 1/2 tsp
- Baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- Water - few drops or as required
Method
- Preheat oven to 400ºF
- Sieve the flour and baking powder together
- Add 120 gms butter to the flour and mix it gently with the your hands. Don't use electric mixer for mixing the flour
- Add 2 tsp sugar and mix gently
- Add vanilla essence and continue to mix gently
- Add a few drops of water to the dough and mix gently with your fingers until it forms a smooth dough. Do not knead the dough
- Take a medium size portion from the dough and make it into a ball. Transfer it to a floured surface and roll till 1/2 inch thick
- Cut the dough using a cookie cutter and place in a tart tins
- Fill the tart with 1/2 tsp strawberry jam and cover using two strips cut from the dough
- Bake at 400ºF for 15 minutes
- Your jam tarts are now ready
