Located in central Jakarta, Istiqlal Mosque is the largest mosque in Southeast Asia and the ninth largest mosque in the world in terms of worshipper capacity. It was inaugurated in 1978 and is positioned close to the National Monument park, and right next to the Roman Catholic Jakarta Cathedral. Tourist visitors need to join a guide tour (register at entry area).
