Hazrat Abbas ibn Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was the son of Ali ibn Abi Talib (the cousin and son-in-law of Prophet Muhammad) and Ummul Banin. He was the half-brother of Imam Hasan and Imam Hussain, and he is also known as Abu al-Fadl.

Hazrat Abbas had deep love and respect for Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). As a member of the Prophet's family and one of the closest relatives, he grew up in the household of the Prophet and was nurtured under his guidance and care. The Prophet Muhammad had a profound impact on his upbringing, instilling in him values of bravery, loyalty, and righteousness.

One of the most significant events that demonstrated Hazrat Abbas's love and devotion to the Prophet was during the Battle of Badr. He was a young man at the time, and despite being eager to participate in the battle, the Prophet Muhammad assigned him the duty of staying back to protect the women and children in Madinah. This decision showed the trust and reliance the Prophet had in Abbas's sense of responsibility and courage.

Furthermore, Hazrat Abbas played a vital role in several other battles, including the Battle of Uhud and the Battle of Siffin, where he showed unwavering loyalty and bravery on the battlefield.

However, it was during the tragic event of Karbala that Hazrat Abbas's love for the Prophet and his family was most profoundly demonstrated. In the Battle of Karbala, Imam Hussain (the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad) and his small group of followers, including Hazrat Abbas, were faced with a much larger and ruthless enemy force. Despite being vastly outnumbered, Hazrat Abbas, out of his love and loyalty to his brother Imam Hussain and the values he had inherited from the Prophet, remained steadfast and refused to abandon his brother's side.

On the day of Ashura, when the family of the Prophet was suffering from thirst due to the enemy's siege, Hazrat Abbas bravely went to the Euphrates River to fetch water for the women and children. He managed to fill the water container but refrained from drinking it himself, knowing the agony his family was enduring. Tragically, he was ambushed by the enemy while returning to the camp, and his arms were cut off. Even in this state, he continued to protect the water container with his teeth until he was struck on the head and martyred.

The sacrifice of Hazrat Abbas in Karbala is considered an example of unparalleled devotion and love for the Prophet and his family. He gave everything, even his life, to uphold the values taught by the Prophet Muhammad and to protect his family and their principles. His memory is revered by Muslims around the world as a symbol of loyalty, bravery, and the love that the family of the Prophet held for each other.
