Lisa Ling is a former Air Force veteran and whistleblower who began her military career in the early 1990s as a medic and nurse. Recognized for her skills in information systems, she transitioned into combat communications, where she managed networked communications technology. Her squadron was later integrated into the U.S. military's Drone Program at Beale Air Force Base as part of the growing Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) enterprise.
Lisa Ling came forward to expose ethical concerns about the program, including civilian casualties, lack of accountability, and the psychological toll on operators.
Her revelations sparked public debate on the morality and impact of modern drone warfare.
We talked with Lisa about drone warfare, the illusion of “the human-in-the-loop,” and how surreal it is to drop bombs in Afghanistan while sitting in California.
A huge Thank You to @DisruptionNetworkLab and @tatianabazzichelli for the opportunity to interview Lisa Ling during the “Investigating the #KillCloud” conference in #Berlin
