The two sports quizzes finally meet in the name of charity - in this case the launch of "Sport Relief", a collaboration between Comic Relief and BBC Sport, taking the best bits of "A Question of Sport" and "They Think It's All Over" and throwing them away, leaving the dregs behind.
Representing "A Question of Sport" are its host - former British tennis champion Sue Barker - and its then-captains - Scottish footballer and love rat Ally McCoist and former World Snooker Champion John Parrott.
And on the "They Think It's All Over Team" are its host - comedian and actor Nick Hancock, regular team captain - former England striker turned potato crisp salesman Gary Lineker, and comedian Frank Skinner (who appeared on TTIAO once in 1996 where he NEVER shut up about AQOS!).
Keeping both teams in check is actor, comedian and Norwich City FC fan Stephen Fry, seemingly auditioning for the "QI" job.
In this special episode, Ally manages to get an uncensored swear in pre-watershed, a mascot tackles a streaker right on his tackle, and Frank feels a right arse - Jimmy Hill's as a matter of fact.
First TX 13th July 2002.
