Monk narrowly escapes as temple pavilion collapses in Nakhon Si Thammarat

On Monday, heavy rainfall in Nakhon Si Thammarat province caused water levels in some tributaries to rise. In Tha Sala district, strong currents eroded the ground beneath a temple pavilion.

During the incident, a resident monk in the pavilion heard an unusually loud noise and decided to run outside, narrowly escaping harm.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has reported on the flooding situation in southern provinces. A new wave of moderate to strong high-pressure weather from China has caused heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of the lower South, leading to flash floods and forest runoff between November 22 and December 17.

Flooding has been reported in 11 provinces: Chumphon, Ranong, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Trang, Satun, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat.
