'Extinct' doesn't always mean lost forever.
The Socorro dove is the world's most threatened bird species, with a worldwide population of just 187 birds. All of them are currently in the care of experts at zoos across Europe and America.
Find out how we're bringing them back from the brink of extinction with zoologist and filmmaker Billy Heaney, who visited these wonderful birds at our Blackburn Pavilion and kindly supported us in creating this video to explain more about our plans to revive Socorro dove populations and release them back into the wild.
