One of our programs, the Create Your Own Opera Partnership provides teachers with curriculum to integrate arts into their classrooms. Throughout the year, students learn about the opera art form and work to create an original opera of their own. Students write or adapt a story, compose original songs, create costumes, sets, props, and lighting – all of which is showcased at the end of the year.

Last year nearly 400 students in the Greater Boston area participated in creating an opera, with BLO supporting 26 teachers as they led students through this creative process. When you support BLO, a portion of your dollar goes to supporting our Education and Community Engagement programming – 90% of which is offered free of charge.

As we enter a new school year, we’re excited to help teachers and students learn about the arts. Our curriculum makes both teaching and learning meaningful – see all of the fun in action!
