Speaker 1: Today, on our 2018 Kia Sorento, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-1 vehicle wiring harness for factory tow package for the 4-pole flat trailer connector. Part number 118269.Here's what our wiring is gonna look like once we have it installed. It is gonna stay on the outside of our vehicle, but the nice thing is that it's gonna be right here next to the hitch whenever we ready to tow. It's gonna provide us with a 4-pole flat trailer connector, which is gonna give us all the required lights to get out trailer down the road safely. Such as our brake lights, turn signals, and our tail lights. It comes with this nice dust cover that's gonna keep all the debris and moisture out. Hopefully, prevent any kind of corrosion from building up on the inside.
It is permanently attached, so we're not gonna have to worry about losing it.The nice thing about this wiring is that it's gonna work with our factory tow package. We're not gonna have to cut into any wires or splice any factory wires. We're gonna have two plugs that are gonna be underneath the vehicle that we're gonna use. Now that we've seen what it looks like, let's show you how to get it put on.To begin your installation, your gonna want to come underneath the vehicle and your gonna go right behind the drivers rear wheel. We're gonna have this plastic panel here.
We're gonna remove the panel and there's gonna be several push pins that are holding it in place. We're gonna have four along the outside edge here. If we come back to the wheel well area, there's gonna be one in the wheel well. We're just gonna take a flat head screwdriver and if you come to the push pin, we're gonna push that center section out, then we can come to the outer section and pop the rest of that clip out. Now that push pin in our wheel well is gonna be on the vertical part of our plastic panel. It should be right behind the tire towards the inside. The panel also has a few speed nuts that are holding it in place, but they don't come out of the panel.
You're just gonna want to pull down and it should let go. Keep in mind, you will have to pull a little bit hard and the panel will come down. Now if we look on the inner section behind the panel, we're gonna have two plugs that aren't connected to anything except a cap. We're gonna remove the two caps on our plugs because those are gonna be our factory tow package ports. The one on top, we just push in on the top button there, it should release it. Then, we can pull it out.Now this lower one, it's gonna be a little bit different.
You're not gonna be able to actually see it because it's connected to the fastener. But if we come behind the cap, there's gonna be, right in the middle, another one of those push buttons. Just push it and release it. You should be able to feel it, but that's what it looks like if you do pull the plug off.We can grab out wiring harness now and we can start plugging it in. I do want to mention that because of where our plugs are actually connected, we may have to pull them off of the panel because of how close they're connected on our harness here. So if you need to, just take the plug and you're gonna want to wiggle it back and forth. Or if you need to get a flathead screwdriver and get behind that area and pull it off.We can take our connector, find our matching ones, and we're gonna plug it in until it locks in place. Then, we can take our other connector and plug that in as well. Now with the excess wire in our converter box, we're gonna undo it up here and tie it up so we can still get our panel in place. Just use some of the zip ties in our provided kit.I'm gonna take one of my zip ties and I'm gonna bundle all my excess wire together, making it a little bit easier to get inside that panel. Then, our converter box, actually has a little eyelet right at the top, so I'm gonna run a zip tie through there. Then, I'm gonna tie it to the factory wiring so it's nice and out of the way. Just take a pair of cutters and cut off the excess tail of our zip tie.Now our 4-pole flat wiring, our end goal is to get it over by our hitch so that when we get ready to tow, it'll be right here ready for us. I'm actually gonna route it in front of the hitch here. I'm gonna run it over towards the center. We don't need all this wire, so we're gonna figure out and estimate about how much we're gonna need. Then we can
