Artist Andrea Bowers discusses her work and the ways that her art practice intersects with the pressing issues of our time. Questions of environmental justice, immigration, and feminism have been long-standing inspiration to Bowers’ work. As she prepares for her forthcoming exhibition at the MCA in spring 2021 and the Hammer Museum in summer 2021, she invites Dr. Kaitlin Reed (Yurok/Hupa/Oneida) for a discussion on advocacy and environmental sustainability as well as the role of white supremacy within climate action work. The conversation is introduced by the exhibition’s co-curators Connie Butler, Hammer Museum Chief Curator, and Michael Darling, MCA Chicago James W. Alsdorf Chief Curator.
Andrea Bowers’ interdisciplinary practice will be the subject of the exhibition Andrea Bowers, surveying over two decades of the artist's career, presented by the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and the Hammer Museum.
The exhibition is co-organized by Michael Darling, MCA James W. Alsdorf Chief Curator and Connie Butler, Hammer Museum Chief Curator.
