Samantha Steele, a Democratic official in Chicago and Commissioner on the Cook County Board of Review, was arrested for drunk driving after being found lying on the roadside following a crash. The incident involved her hitting two vehicles and resulted in a misdemeanor DUI charge. Officers discovered an open bottle of red wine in her car and noted signs of intoxication. Steele refused sobriety tests and made inappropriate comments to an officer. After complaining of head pain, she was taken for medical evaluation and sought legal assistance from fellow Commissioner Scott Britton, who referred her to another lawyer. Her court date is set for December 27.
