Mangalore Buns recipe
Mangalore Buns or Buns are deep fried bread made with limited ingredients like mashed bananas, sugar, maida, curd and spiced with a touch of cumin seeds. This is a most popular variety of food from Mangalore - Udupi region. A dough is prepared using above ingredients and fermented overnight or for at least 12 hours. No need to add baking soda if fermented for long. It puffs up like poori when deep fried. Buns can be served hot with sambar or coconut chutney.
Ingredients
* 3 pieces banana (ripened)
* 5-6tsp sugar
* 1/4 cup curd
* 1/2tsp salt
* 1tsp cumin seeds
* 1tsp coconut oil
* 2 cup maida
* Water as required
