(26 May 2016) The foreign affairs adviser to Pakistan's prime minister said that the US drone strike which killed former Taliban chief Mullah Akhtar Mansour "undermined the Afghan peace process".
At a news conference in the capital, Islamabad, Sartaj Aziz said he still believed that the way to resolve the Afghanistan's conflict is through negotiation.
Aziz on Thursday said that "all indicators" confirmed that Mansour was killed in a US drone strike in the country's south-western Baluchistan province, where he was travelling under a false name with fake Pakistani identity documents.
Mansour was killed in Pakistan on Saturday when his vehicle was struck by a US drone plane, an attack believed to be the first time a Taliban leader was killed in such a way inside Pakistani territory.
