When it comes to magical journeys and fantastical characters, Roald Dahl definitely is one of the crème de la crème of children's authors. Born in the UK to Norwegian parents, young Dahl was a bookworm who loved stories that fired up his imagination. His favorite being those with ghosts. He was a pilot with the British Air Forces, survived a plane crash and even did a stint as a British Spy, His first short story, Shot Down Over Libya, was published in 1942 by an American magazine. This proved to be just the beginning of a long and successful career. One of his most famous quotes is `Those who don't belive in magic will never find it`.
