Torrential rain and flooding have battered New Zealand’s South Island region, triggering a state of emergency in Westland. The Waiho Bridge near Franz Josef was filmed as it was washed away in raging flooding waters. It's believed one woman has died as a result of the floodwaters. Authorities are calling it 'a 100-year event' with up to 700 millimetres of rain falling in some of the regions catchments.
