Ridiculusmus has been producing innovative and accessible theatre for over 25 years. The company’s Co-Artistic Directors, David Woods and Jon Haynes, have established the company as a unique and unconventional UK performance group that works nationally and internationally. Featuring original thought, comedic skill and minimal resources, the company’s work is both serious and funny. It has been commissioned by venues including the Barbican, National Theatre, Royal Court, Soho Theatre, Battersea Arts Centre and Arts House, Melbourne.
Die! Die! Die! Old People Die! explores our perceptions of elderly people. Woods and Haynes, two remarkable performers, inhabit the roles of an older couple. Their life is a surreal series of agonisingly slow journeys from one point to another with fumbling, daily rounds of coffee, rants, dribbles, pills and coughing fits. Made with empathy, the show faces our fears of growing older and celebrates age, death and grief as being normal parts of life.
Die! Die! Die! is in Edinburgh as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The British Council’s biennial Edinburgh Showcase is the single biggest opportunity for UK theatre companies to introduce their work to international promoters. The programme comprises new work that represents the very best of contemporary theatre and dance, reflecting the breadth and diversity of British performing arts. The 2019 Edinburgh Showcase takes place between Monday 19-Saturday 24 August 2019.
