My adult babies fall when they promenade because their head is on the wrong shoulder. When you work in the fourth position your head should be balanced high on the back shoulder. Where you fall is where your weight is. Use opposition - oppose the direction of the movement.
Opposition means one side opposes the other - there is always the left side, and the right side, and both have energy and weight that is equal and opposite. One arm is always reaching back.
Because most adult beginners are late starters and lack flexibility and strength, balancing and turning in arabesque is the most challenging movement of all.
Don't try to lift your arabesque so high that it forces you to lean forward lowering your chest & head.
Keep you chest and head as far from the floor as possible while reaching out both arms in opposite directions.
Think left as you turn right. And, vice-versa.
The promenade en dedans in large poses and pirouettes is fully detailed and demonstrated by ABT star Isabella Boylston in "Pirouette Class 3." Add it to your video library now: [ Ссылка ]
