Ronald Neame directed the 1979 American science fiction disaster movie Meteor, which starred Natalie Wood and Sean Connery. The 1967 MIT study Project Icarus served as the inspiration for the movie's plot, which centers on a group of scientists dealing with Cold War politics after they discover an asteroid is headed straight for Earth.
