According to the news coming in from Chennai, the left parties of the state protested against the central government demanding that they listen to the farmers. Hundreds of workers who are attached to trade unions and political party cadres from several political parties including the Communist Party of India (Marxist), CPI(M), Communist Party of India, CPI, and Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation, CPI-ML. Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) cadres led the protest in Chennai. They blocked the road and rose slogans against the union government. They demand that the union government immediately roll back the petrol price hike also stated their displeasure with laws including the farm laws. State Secretaries of the CPI and CPI(M), R Mutharasan and K Balakrishnan respectively, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi chief Thol Thirumavalavan and functionaries of the ruling DMK affiliated Labour Progressive Federation also participated in the protest.
