유엔 사이트 '일본해' 단독표기…반크, 시정 운동 착수
The Voluntary Agency Network of Korea, also known as VANK… has asked the UN to change how they have identified the ocean between South Korea and Japan as the "Sea of Japan."
A Korean civil activist group on cyber diplomacy, VANK, said on Saturday... the current map on the UN's geo service website was misleading.
Instead, they asked the UN to include how South Korea refers to the location…the "East Sea,"… citing the 1977 UN Conference on Standardization of geographical names.
The conference concluded... all of the names should be used on maps if a single geographical name had not been established... by two or more of the adjacent countries sharing the location.
