Exterior stucco coat thickness or depth, then scarifier or put lines in the stucco.
In this video, I answer the old question of how thick stucco should be applied.
As a rule, this exterior cement plaster is being applied 3/8 thick; what happens if you use a little more or less? Nothing.
You can always add or apply thinner on your second coat to reach the correct depth.

After your first coat of stucco, you scratch it horizontally with a scarifier.
This provides a key for your next coat or the brown coat to be applied to.
When both are applied, that’s your base coat; the surfaces are unlimited if you want to add texture to the base coat.
