The share of educated youth in the total unemployed workforce in India has doubled from 35.2% in the year 2000 to 65.7% in 2022, according to a report released by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the Institute For Human Development in March this year. Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) V Anantha Nageswaran, while releasing the report, said that it was “incorrect to assume that the government can solve all social and economic problems.” Former finance minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram labelled the CEA's remark the "most startling confession" and asked the BJP to "vacate their seat."
