(26 Feb 2015) OSCE's (Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe) Chief observer of the Observer Mission at the Russian Checkpoints Gukovo and Donetsk held a news conference on Thursday and related his latest report on the situation of border crossings in Ukraine.
Paul Picard spoke in Vienna after having reported to the Assembly.
Picard said the OSCE mission had the mandate of observing two border crossing points between Russia and Ukraine, and within this mandate, no crossings of people with weapon or other military equipment had been observed.
However, the OSCE mission has the mandate to observe only two of six border crossings.
Individuals without luggage, groups wearing flags or badges belonging to different groups such as the People's Republic of Donetsk or Luhansk have been seen crossing.
Picard stressed that no weapons have been observed under the OSCE mandate.
