The Bishop's Palace in Galveston, Texas, a 19,000-square-foot architectural masterpiece designed by Galveston's own Nicholas Clayton. Completed in 1893, this Châteauesque limestone, granite, and sandstone home was built for the wealthy Walter Gresham and his family. After Gresham's death in the 1920s, the Catholic Church purchased it and transformed it into a home for the Bishop. Today, it stands as a reminder of Galveston's history and is one of the most architecturally significant buildings in the United States.
