Meeting environmental goals in regards of stormwater runoff reduction and producing renewable energy is easier and most efficient if commercial rooftops are finally required to help reducing the heat stress on cities.
In North America there are multimillions of acres of rooftops in commercial areas surrounding our metropolitan areas. Often contributing more stormwater runoff and heat island than the adjoining city.
Green infrastructure in these commercial areas is hardly discussed. It would be more effective, efficient and target oriented to meet sustainability goals.
