Our lives are a fragments of the decisions we make and even the ones we stall on are still decisions by default.
'Indecisive' used to be my middle name and harmless as it seemed at the time, the negative impact ran much deeper.
What to consider if you are currently in a similar position?
1. Part of the root of the paralysis is that you have factored other people’s opinions into the equation and allowed it to unjustly override your intentions. This is the external identity crisis of who you are and who you desire to be versus living up to expectations.
The most important question to ask yourself is which decisions would you regret when you are on your death bed? And then begin to act accordingly. You cannot please everyone!
2. Indecisiveness is masked by fear. The fear of getting it wrong, of making mistakes, being criticised, failure and even not being able to handle success!
Consider this, everyone who you admire have had to work through their fears so embrace it as the the norm. Study your fears, work through them and eventually you will become its master.
3. Standing still is preventing your growth. The world will continue to pass you by despite you biding your time. It is therefore only in taking action and moving that you can accelerate your development.
Take inspiration from Theodore Roosevelt's the man in the arena quote- yes your face will be marred with sweat, dust and tears but at least you will play the lead role in your life rather than being a mere spectator!
Will you become more decisive today?
