SUPERMODEL GISELE BUNDCHEN ON FASHION RIO CATWALK
Gorgeous Gisele Bundchen was on home ground Friday (09JUN06), taking to the catwalk in Brazil for Fashion Rio.
The week of fashion shows in Rio de Janeiro unveiled a total of 40 new Spring-Summer 2007 collections.
Among them, Elisa Chanan, with a collection of discreet sensuality inspired by silent movies.
Elisa Chanan is one of the new names in Brazilian fashion, her label fast setting new trends in the country. She unveiled a collection of mostly black and white outfits, was just a few splashes of beige, red and pink.
Tight black jeans proved a hit with the show's audience, while different coloured sandals and silk fabrics also featured heavily.
Gisele, now a global fashion icon, walked the runway once again for Brazilian label Colcci.
Bundchen arrived backstage at Colcci shadowed by heavy security. The 25 year old supermodel is under contract to the south Brazilian label until next year, and its catwalk show is one of the few Gisele - now making millions doing advertising work - is still involved with.
After a one hour make up session, the supermodel appeared for the press for a few minutes, with Colcci owner, designer Lila Colzani.
The supermodel is from Horizontina, a small city in Rio Grande do Sul State, in the south of Brazil, and has a child was teased and called "Ol�via Palito" (Portuguese for Olive Oyl, Popeye's skinny friend), for being so tall on and thin.
She told AP Entertainment it was great to be back home.
She said; "I always loved Rio de Janeiro. So, it's always a pleasure to be in Brazil and also in Rio. So..it's cool."
Gisele opened the Colcci show wearing a short dress, in beige, with white embroidery.
Titled 'A Week at the Beach,' Colcci's Spring-Summer 2007 collection focused on summer outfits that can be worn any time of day, to any occasion. Colours included off-white, beige and grey.
There was Colcci menswear too, with oversized shorts and trousers and huge necklace accessories.
Gisele closed the show in a green silk dress, returning to the catwalk with designer Lila Colzani.
Bundchen returned to New York at the weekend.
Fashion Rio finished on Sunday June 11th.
