Roland Flint was a poet's poet, steadfastly publishing books that were slightly unappreciated by the general public, but admired by many a writer.
A revered teacher at Georgetown University, Flint published this poem, "Late September, Early Morning," in his collection Stubborn, which was chosen for the National Poetry Series. He read this poem for HoCoPoLitSo's The Writing Life program, with his dear friend and fellow poet Lucille Clifton as host.
Shawn Sebastian Naar reads an introduction to offer background and context on the poet and the poem.
