LRF (short for Light Rock Fishing) is all about having fun, exploring and catching different species. On our recent trip to Mauritius, my Dad and I managed to catch 43 different species of fish, and many of those were caught LRF. During this three and a half minute video Dad and I catch 14 species.
We used two set-ups - one was the new Shakespeare Agility 7' LRF rod, matched with the Abu Garcia Revo Premier 10 spinning reel, and the other was the Abu Rocksweeper 7' 5-25g rod, matched with a Penn Conflict 2500 reel. So that we could cast tiny jigheads, we used the ultra-thin Berkley Nanofil in 0.12mm. The leader material we used was Trilene XL Fluorocarbon.
Soft baits that worked well were the Berkley Gulp! Saltwater Sandworms, Gulp! Alive Angleworm, Berkley Powerbait Shrug Minnows, Powerbait Maxi Bloodworms, Berkley Johnson Beetle Shads, Beetle Tubes and Beetle Critters.
