Tank pressure ratings for these are in excess of the valve 375psi safety blow off . These 20 &30lb tanks are dot4ba240 rated which have a service pressure of 240psi and are hydro tested to 2x that(480psi). Compare that to a store bought portable air tank with a max service pressure of 125psi and no DOT rating.
Working with pressure vessels is always dangerous. Dented, rusted or damaged tanks are obviously a poor idea to use. Don't do anything you saw someone else do on the internet.
FREON/HELIUM TANKS: Those are too thin to use in my opinion. Propane tanks are tested to 480psi. Freon/helium tanks only to 180psi. Propane tanks are heat treated to anneal the steel so they don't fatigue and fracture after repeated flexing from being filled and emptied. Freon/Helium are not required to have this done due to their one time use. You can read more about this with their Dept of Transportation ratings: Freon/Helium tanks are single use "DOT-39" rated.
