Here's how to remove the side mirror cover on a 2005 Mercedes E320 (W211).

***If you feel some resistant after unlatching the metal clip, the cover might be catching on the mirror (glass) panel. Tilt/push the mirror so it angles more towards the car to free the cover.***

Tip: If you don't have a screwdriver with plastic sleeve like the one I used, use a piece of cloth or tape to keep the screwdriver from scratching the mirror housing.
