One of our great artists and singers, Billy J. Kramer returns to the channel to talk about his latest album “Are You With Me,” recorded at Abbey Road Studios coinciding with his 80th birthday. The album includes a few songs written by Billy, plus songs from Tom Hambridge, the Alessi Brothers, Liberty DeVitto, and Jeff Perholtz of the Newbees, who produced the album along with Laurence Juber (Wings) who plays guitar throughout. Also guesting as musicians are Steve Holley (Wings), Mark Hudson, Gary Burr, Mark Mirando, Joe Bellia (Weeklings) and Jeffrey Alan Ross (Peter Asher’s band.) When the Beatles broke out, Billy had more songs given to him by Lennon & McCartney than any other artist, and he was part of Brian Epstein’s stable, and at the time was also produced by George Martin.
Here we talk about the album, Billy’s new Christmas song “Christmas Kinda Feeling,” and his relationship with the Beatles. Plus how he came to record songs from Harry Nilsson and the Bee Gees before their initial success.
Billy will be giving a concert on Dec. 22, 2024 at the Moonlight Theater in Chicago!
Thanks again, Billy for spending time with us!
