Digimon World 2 drops you into the game and doesn't really explain how to get additional Digimon besides your starter monster (Agumon, Pataman or Devimon). This guide outlines that you need to get recruitment items from your Guard Team item shop. The items have different names in all teams but they should describe that they are used to capture Level D digimon. Once you see a Digimon in a dungeon, press square to see its type. If the digimon is the same type as your starter you can use the recruitment item. When you defeat the digimon, there is a chance it will join you.
