This is a combination tabletop tropod, mini-tripod, "briefcase mode" handle, short selfie-stick, and wall hanging tripod. The tripod legs fold out of the handle, and the folding arms can be positioned at various positions to hold the camera above the tripod, or below the handle.
The fiberglass reinforced nylon parts are very rigid but lightweight, and the whole setup feels very premium. When I first saw the price I thought it was high, but after playing around with the Mantispod Z I feel it is fair.
I was impressed with the wide variety of adjustments and configurations this device supports. I especially like the built in hook for "mantis mode" where it can hang off a door or railing.
My only gripe is that the "quick cap" quick release system requires a hex wrench (provided) or flat head screwdriver to attach/remove from your camera. This is fine if you plan on using only the Mantispod Z with the camera, but if you need to remove it from your camera in the field you had better make sure you have the tool with you.
