Welcome back to school to students and educators nationwide! At the Department of Education, we are continuing our commitment to protect the country’s students from discrimination in schools and colleges.
Learn how we’re protecting students’ civil rights in this video from Assistant Secretary Catherine Lhamon.
You can find OCR policy resources, school resolution agreements, and more, on our website, at www.ed.gov/ocr. You can also look up your school and district on the Department’s Civil Rights Data Collection website at civilrightsdata.ed.gov, to access data collected from every public school in the country reflecting civil rights indicators.
If you believe a student has experienced discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, or disability, you can file a complaint with OCR at ocrcas.ed.gov. For language assistance when contacting OCR call 1-800-USA-LEARN (1-800-872-5327), or send an email to ed.language.assistance@ed.gov.
