Samanabad colony is among the oldest posh areas of Lahore. Model Town Scheme is the oldest and poshest area after which there are others among which Samanabad holds a prominent place. It used to be called Ichra, however, after the passage of time and after massive development, it made its own distinctive identity and came to be known as "Smanabad". Samanabad is a properly planned housing scheme having abundant parks and greenery. It originally consisted of large housing units i.e. 8 marlas to One Kanal and above, however, now the big units are being divided into smaller units to earn profit. This practice has marred the beauty of this area. This place is included in the old but gold category.
